What to Expect on Sunday

VISITORS

We want to make your first visit to Weston Christian Church a comfortable and welcoming experience.

We are located on the corner of Washington and Spring streets, one block west of Main street. We have handicap parking available on Washington Street, in front of our entrance. Otherwise, please drive north on Washington about a half block and you will see our lot on the east side.

You will be greeted by a friendly face and handed a bulletin as you enter the church.   We have two entrances: one that goes directly into our sanctuary and another that is handicap accessible. Our restroom and an elevator are located at the handicap accessible entrance.

WORSHIP

As you enter the Sanctuary, please take a seat wherever you feel comfortable. If you have little ones and would like to bring them to the nursery, please follow the signs leading downstairs to the fellowship hall.

Please fill out a visitor’s card found in the bulletin.  Just fill it out, tear it out of the bulletin and drop it in the offering plate later in the service. Upcoming events will be highlighted on the media screens in the sanctuary prior to worship.

Worship begins with a time for the church community to share its joys and concerns. You are welcome to share with the congregation what is on your heart during this moment, or you may write it down and place it in the offering plate.

We are gifted with many talented musicians at WCC. Worship through music utilizes both the piano and organ. We are blessed to have additional musicians, such as a violinist who performs frequently with the choir or provides special music.   The adult choir is an important part of our service leading hymns and singing anthems throughout the majority of the year.  We appreciate different styles of music so it is not unusual for a Blue Grass group, Contemporary Christian band or a string ensemble to be part of our worship. We believe singing is like praying twice!  Hymns can be found in the red hymnal, the purple Praise book, or you can look at the lyrics on the screen.

If you have children, toddler-elementary school age, they are welcome in our Children’s Church.  Prior to the sermon scripture reading, the Youth Director will invite the children forward for a brief lesson and prayer.  Following this moment, they may go down to the fellowship hall for a time of Godly play and fellowship.

If you have an infant with you in the service that starts to get a little unsettled (as babies are known to do), or if you want to nurse your child in privacy without missing the service, you may use the little nook in the northwest corner of the sanctuary.  We really don’t mind the noise of children here.  Actually, we are glad for it!

We celebrate communion every Sunday at each service.  ALL who believe in Christ are invited to come forward to receive communion.  Gluten free is available!

We invite you to stay after worship for fellowship.  Please introduce yourself to the pastor and if you have any questions, the pastor or any of our members, would be happy to assist you.
